So we flew down to Los Angeles and went to Venice Beach for a weekend. We took Leo so we could determine if he was able to fly (he was, kinda).

So we went to Turlock for a dog show. Never thought I’d go to Turlock.

Leo did pretty well at the show and made it to the groups competition.

I did some bike rides through the various parts of town and out into the fields to add some miles.

In late March, we drove out to Las Vegas for the dog show in Henderson. On our outbound drive, we got stuck for 4 hours in a traffic jam between Barstow and Baker where a big rig had overturned. The truck had to be unloaded and it was literally the middle of nowhere at night... 

Leo did well in this competition winning a point and competing in the groups.

At the end of January, we headed down to Ventura for a dog show. 

Lynda and Leo attended the IABCA dog show in late January. We stayed at The Astro; a funky little motel in Santa Rosa. We had some great meals at the Spinster Sisters. 

We headed out to Del Mar in February for a dog show. We had a few storms pass through on the drive. 

We began 2023 with a car trip to Palm Springs for the first dog show of the season. The weather was fantastic and we stayed again at the La Quinta Resort & Club. We took my bike, so I got a few long rides through the area, although I couldn’t quite find the Thermal Club. We drove out to see it one afternoon.

Back in June 2023, at LPR's Autocross #5 at Salinas Airport an interesting thing happened.

As I went into full brake at the finish of my first run, the drivers side headlight shot out of the car. I'm sure it gave the timing station quite a start as it bounced across the tarmac.

In late 2021, we began a terrace project to our lower hillside. We had come to find through a property survey that we had approximately 100' of slope to manage. In an effort to comply with Firewise principles (brush cutting, defensible space), we figured that grading, retaining and adding astroturf would give us more space for kids and dog training. Along the way, we built in some additional steps and planter boxes.

The project finished just prior to the Winter of 2023 and the heavy rainfall we had. We some minor damage to gravell paths but that's fixable.

Lynda and Leo went down to Carmel to drink some coffee and watch the Poodle Day Parade. If you didn't know, Carmel is a hot spot for poodles. Here’s a few shots of the scene.
